Hurry up and wait...
Just here sitting with Mike at the hospital. What we originally hoped to be just a few day visit has turned into longer. Which is okay as they are trying their very best to level out his pain.
But here's the thing about Mike, his pain level on the scale of one to ten is a lot different then the normal persons. I'm pretty sure when he says his pain is at a four that's the average persons nine. (I imagine the nurses have caught on to this.)
As far as how long he'll be here, we think probably a few more days. He is getting an IV of sodium and the usual hydration stuff which is really good.
Saturday was by far one of the better days we've had for a while - so we are all very thankful for that! However, today (Sunday) the pain is worse which really takes a toll on him. (As you can imagine.) The tricky thing too is often that eating makes the pain worse... Hence why we have him on a such a specific diet which is where we come to a full circle because the pain he is experiencing often dictates how much he'll be able to eat and drink.
So it seems for every step forward, we hit a wall. In the words of all of us here - it's such a crap shoot...
So here are the specific in between prayers.
For Mike's pain to go from what is a four or five, down to one or zero!
That everything he eats his body would accept and absorb all the nutrients!! This is a big need for him to be able to fully fight the cancer cells. Because once we get his strength back up it's all hands on deck as far as what we need him to be eating and taking. Obviously we need Mikael to be as strong as possible.
With that,
"Yet, I totally trust you to rescue me
One more time, so that I can see once again
How good you are while I'm still alive!
Here's what I've learned through it all:
Don't give up, don't be impatient,
Be entwined as one with the Lord.
Be brave, courageous, and never lose hope.
Yes, keep on waiting -
For he will never disappoint you!"
